We're in this together
Watoto is a Swahili word, which means "The Children". Because we care, and are dedicated to finding a solution that is holistic in its application, we will be delving into the root cause of the present condition of The Children of Alkebulan. We are not interested in applying band-aid to conditions that led to almost 1 million of the surviving children imprisoned at younger and younger ages.
We are saddened by the high infant mortality rate. We are dismayed by the number of children under the care of children services (foster care). We are appalled by the high-school dropout rate, especially of young men. The self-inflicted permanent act of suicide is terrifying. And the inability of mothers and fathers to adequately provide for their family because of lack of viable opportunities for employment is beyond acceptance, when there are so many resourceful people in the Black communities.
Watoto of Alkebulan seeks to find clear answers and effective solutions as we answer the question:"What about the children?" We’re in this together! One Heart. One Aim. One Destiny!
We know Watoto are our future and we must protect our future. If we do not protect the purity and innocence of our children, the end result is the obliteration of a people. “And nothing can we call our own but death and that small model of the barren earth which serves as paste and cover to our bones. For God's sake, let us sit upon the ground and tell sad stories of the death of kings.” William Shakespeare
The Secret to our Success?
What Solutions Do We Bring?
We bring products and services especially created to address the disturbances in the body-heart-mind-soul of the children and their families. We have gone through extensive search and evaluation in choosing the team of practitioners that will serve in the healing of wounds because of the onslaught of intergenerational traumas the children are exposed to on a daily basis. At this level of commitment and dedication, it is still an organic process.
